Agencies win task to give Beano launch some oomph

beanoThe Beano, home to Dennis the Menace, the Bash Street Kids, Roger the Dodger and Little Plum, has appointed Red Brick Road and Manning Gottlieb OMD to launch the new multi-platform entertainment channel for kids.
The channel – specifically targeted at 7- to 10-year-olds – will feature film and TV programmes, live theatrical experiences, consumer products, video stories, news, so-called “listicles”, games and inspiration for children.
One of the “highlights” will be a TV series called Dennis and Gnasher – Unleashed! launching in the autumn of next year and will see the pesky duo appear in CGI animation for the first time. The content will be hosted on Beano.com as well as YouTube and PopJam and will support the print version of the comic.
Red Brick Road and Manning Gottlieb OMD will work across all consumer marketing including TV, digital, press and experiential.
Beano Studios chief marketing officer Iain Sawbridge said: “Both agencies smashed it out of the park at pitch, delivering stellar, integrated thinking and some properly awesome ideas, to unleash the Beano spirit and be the talk of every playground in the UK.”
