Adam Kornick will move to the insurer – formerly Norwich Union – in September and report to UK and Ireland general insurance chief executive Maurice Tulloch.
Kornick joins from Progressive Insurance, where he has been since 2004, joining from Ford Motor Company. During his time at the company, Kornick used technology to identify market trends and improve risk-based pricing, online advertising and claims analytics to predict and manage fraud. He was most recently vice-president of big data and analytics.
His new role will see him analysing data to understand the needs of customers and deliver Aviva’s “digital first” strategy. Announcing the appointment, Tulloch said: “The UK has one of the most competitive insurance markets in the world and the use of big data and analytics will help us better utilise the data we already gather to continue improving the service and products we offer our customers.”
Kornick added: “I was determined to join Aviva after being impressed by its commitment to improve underwriting, pricing and claims with predictive analytics.
“Aviva’s investment in digital and analytics will generate a wealth of data to identify developing trends, better understand the needs of our customers and improve the efficiency of our business by combating fraud.”
The company, which has used Paul Whitehouse (pictured) in its advertising and marketing activity since 2009, has over 31 million customers across its brand portfolio of insurance, savings and investment products. Its direct marketing account is handled by Kitcatt Nohr, while it has also used Stack (formerly CMW); AMV BBDO runs the ad business.
