Barclays risks all with ‘Your Bank’

Barclays-BankBarclays Bank is launching a brave – some might say, foolhardy – online initiative which allows consumers – whether Barclays customer or not – to submit and share ideas for improving everyday banking services.
The company says the scheme, dubbed Your Bank,  is designed to empower members of the public to have their say and help influence new products, online tools, banking advice and in-branch experiences in order to truly help build a modern bank.
However, some will no doubt question whether the bank is opening itself up for a backlash. Last year the financial regulator reported that Barclays was the most-complained about bank in the entire sector, with 442,266 complaints over just six months.
Your Bank is being supported by a major advertising campaign, devised by BBH London, with Dare launching social media and digital activity.
The campaign’s ear themed creative imagery is made up of people from all walks of life reflecting the nation’s biggest bank’s commitment to listen to customers and their banking needs.
Five key creative concepts will play out over the week of 9th September. Each will have a question designed to spark discussion and ideas and will carry the call to action: ‘Share your ideas and help us build Your Bank at www.barclays.co.uk/yourbank 
Barclays Retail marketing director Sara Bennison said: “At Barclays, we want to do a more broad scale and transparent job of feeding customers’ ideas about how to improve our service into the business. The Your Bank platform represents a very public commitment to listening to our customers and showing how we are going to act on changes big and small which can make their lives easier. The campaign which takes the platform from beta to full launch has a bold visual approach to demonstrate listening and is unafraid to ask provocative questions to demonstrate we really do want to hear.”
