Data specialist Blueberry Wave is attempting to tackle the skills shortage by joining forces with the IDM to launch its own in-house training initiative, dubbed The Wave Academy.
As part of the initiative, the agency – which has offices in Cirencester and London – is giving staff the opportunity to gain online qualifications through the IDM, including the IDM Award in Data Fundamentals, the IDM Award in Direct Mail and the IDM Award in Direct & Digital Marketing.
Ultimately they will be offered the chance to complete the IDM Professional Diploma in Direct & Digital Marketing.
In addition, the company is running an in-house management development programme, designed to allow future leaders to hone their own management and coaching skills.
Blueberry Wave director Nick Dixon said: “The industry appears somewhat lacking in providing investment in training for the next generation of digital and direct marketers.
“We believe that training our people is fundamental to achieving the growth plans that we have put in place for Blueberry Wave and we also want to ensure our clients get access to the best people in the industry to assist with growing and developing their own businesses.”
