Hipperson to net Weve interim job

Hipperson to net Weve interim jobFormer ZenithOptimedia, G2 Joshua and RMG Connect boss Tim Hipperson has been appointed interim chief executive of Weve, the joint mobile advertising venture between EE, O2 and Vodafone.
Set up in November 2012, Weve offers brands the chance to target ads to more than 22 million users, and is planning to expand into mobile payments and loyalty card services.
It uses anonymised data but offers advertisers a raft of personal information supplied by the customer, as well as location information. The joint venture reported £13m in revenue in its first year from text messages alone.
Hipperson will succeed CEO David Sear – who left last month to join online payment company Skrill – until a permanent replacement can be found. However, it is understood he could be in the job until next year.
Hipperson set up his own consultancy, Morph Management, in November, a fortnight after leaving ZenithOptimedia where he had been chief executive for just six months.
He started his career at the Database Group in 1990, then in 1995 became data planning director at Tequila. He went on to hold senior roles at McCann Relationship Marketing, DraftFCB, RMG – which held the Vodafone business – and G2 Joshua before quitting to take on the ZenithOptimedia role.
