IPA confirms first woman president

Karmarama chairman and partner Nicola Mendelsohn has been confirmed as the new president of the IPA for the next two years; the first woman to hold the post in the IPA’s 94 year history.
Succeeding Rory Sutherland, vice-chairman of Ogilvy Group UK, the formal handover will take place on 6 April at the IPA’s annual lunch.
The selection process was led by the immediate past president Moray MacLennan, worldwide chief executive M&C Saatchi.
After graduating with a degree in English and Drama from Leeds University in 1992, Mendelsohn began her career at BBH, reaching board director level before leaving to join Grey London where she was promoted to deputy chairman in June 2004.
She joined Karmarama as a partner and chairman in April 2008. In 2005 she featured in Management Today’s list of the ‘Top 35 women under 35’.
Mendelsohn’s other roles include being a member of the IPA Council, a past President of WACL, Director of The Fragrance Foundation and Board Member of Cosmetic Executive Women. She is also Chair of the Corporate Board of Women’s Aid.
