AO.com, the online electrical retailer which rebranded from Appliances Online, has handed its lead pan-European agency role to Karmarama following a four-way pitch.
The company has operated in the UK since 2000, and expanded into Germany last September 2014, the latest stage of its European expansion. It had worked with BMB since 2013. The pitch was handled by AAR.
Karmarama has been briefed to create a new brand platform to be rolled out across multiple channels, including broadcast advertising and digital marketing.
AO.com group brand director Andrew Kirkcaldy cited Karmarama’s “great culture that is closely aligned to ours” as the key reason for the appointment.
He added: “[Kamarama] showed us smart ideas and have a truly integrated offer. They’ve got all the tools a business like ours needs and a modern approach to communications. We’re looking forward to working with them”.
AO.com recently won the title Britain’s Best Retailer at the Verdict Retail Awards for customer satisfaction, ousting John Lewis from top spot. This is the first time an electricals retailer has taken the top prize.
