Karmarama chief Ryan in sudden exit

Karmarama group executive creative director Caitlin Ryan is understood to have quit the agency after just over two years in the role, without a job to go to.
Agency staff were told of her resignation this week; it is believed she has already left the business.
Ryan was responsible for the day-to-day running of the creative teams across the group, including Karmarama, data agency Crayon Ci and production firm Kream. Only weeks ago, she had recruited five new members of the creative team, including Proximity creative partner Jo Jenkins.
It is understood that her decision to leave was sparked by senior management changes at the agency. Until recently Ryan had reported to group chief creative officer and co-founder Dave Buonaguidi, but he left at the end of last year and was succeeded by Droga5 Europe executive creative director Nik Studzinski, who joined last month.
However, insiders claim his appointment did not go down well with some at the agency, with one source claiming: “It was always going to end in tears.”
Ryan joined Karmarama in the summer of 2013, having spent 14 years at Proximity London in its various guises.
She had started her career at McCann-Erickson in Australia. In 1993, she came to the UK and worked on the launch of HMV’s direct division, before joining Barraclough Hall Woolston Gray in 1998. She was promoted to joint creative director in 1999, and in 2005 was promoted to ECD at the agency which by that time had been rebranded Proximity London.
No-one at Karmarama was available to comment for DecisionMarketing, while Ryan was also uncontactable.
