Mapping giant recruits Digitas to run global media brief

Here Technologies, a global leader in mapping and location platform services owned by a consortium of companies including Audi, BMW and Daimler, has appointed Digitas as its global media agency following a competitive pitch.

A core team based in the UK will lead the account across key markets globally, designed to boost Here Technologies presence in the B2B market.

The account is currently in a strategy and planning phase, with the first media activity planned for Q4 this year.

It is claimed that the winning strategy reflected the agency’s B2B experience and leading digital expertise, with a strong focus on demand generation.

Here Technology provides an open platform that enables people, enterprises and cities to harness the power of location. It captures location content such as road networks, buildings, parks and traffic patterns and then sells or licenses that mapping content, along with map related navigation and location services to other businesses such as Alpine, Garmin, BMW, Oracle and Amazon.

In addition, Here provides location services through its own applications, and also for government clients and other providers, such as Bing and Facebook. It has maps of nearly 200 countries, offers voice guided navigation in 94 countries, provides live traffic information in 33 countries and has indoor maps available for about 49,000 unique buildings in 45 countries.

Here Technologies Berlin head of brand development Georg Rasinski said: “Digitas impressed us with their marketing tech and data expertise. We are consolidating our media investment to drive more effective B2B marketing campaigns and it was clear that Digitas has a deep understanding on how to improve our return on advertising investment.”
