This year’s DMA Awards nominations have signalled yet another upheaval of the old guard with former Lida creative chief Nicky Bullard seemingly taking her awards expertise to her new agency, MRM Meteorite, which leads the field with 14 on the shortlist.
This year’s line-up includes one of the largest shortlists in the awards history, with a huge spread of agencies vying for a gold in one of the 34 categories. Consequently many of the awards stalwarts have been forced way down the pecking order.
MRM Meteorite has been nominated for Tommee Tippee, Vauxhall, Direct Line and Xbox Survival Billboard (pictured), which won two golds and a silver for sister agency McCann London in Cannes.
MRM is followed by Arthur London and Lida on eight, and Havas Helia and Pulse Creative on seven each, with Proximity London (the current grand prix holder) and Weber Shandwick on six apiece.
OgilvyOne, one of the most successful agencies in recent years in getting on the shortlist, has had to settle for five nominations, along with TMW Unlimited, WDMP and Karmarama.
This year’s awards were judged by over 350 senior marketers from agencies, brands and suppliers over 4 days in order to whittle the entries down to the shortlist.
DMA Awards committee chair Mark Runacus said: “At an uncertain time for our industry and for the country following the Brexit vote earlier this year, it’s more important than ever that we continue to innovate. Data-driven marketers are in the strongest position to do this by harnessing the insight that’s at the heart of everything we do.
Delivering fantastically creative, strategic and successful campaigns is what we do, through good times and bad. Every year the DMA Awards are a snapshot of the best work the one-to-one marketing industry has to offer and a showcase of the sheer breadth of talent that makes up the sector. It’s fantastic to see the quality of work we’re producing, but in a challenging climate we must make sure we’re continuing to deliver this great work over the coming years too.”
The winners of the DMA Awards 2016 will be announced at the DMA Awards night at Old Billingsgate on Tuesday December 6. For the full shortlist visit the awards website>
