M&S reopens online store but only for limited service

Marks & Spencer has finally started taking online clothing orders again, more than six weeks after it was forced to pull the plug on its ecommerce business following the cyber-attack that has rocked the firm.

The retailer has posted on its website that some of its “best-selling fashion ranges” are now available for home delivery to England, Scotland and Wales. It plans to add more of its fashion, home and beauty products to the site each day, ahead of schedule.

At its most recent update on the attack, released on May 21, M&S warned disruption to its operations was set to drag on until July and that it was facing a £300m loss as a result of the ongoing attack – equivalent to 30% of profits.

The website reads: “You can now place online orders with standard delivery to England, Scotland and Wales. Delivery to Northern Ireland will resume in the coming weeks.

“We will resume Click & Collect, next-day delivery, nominated-day delivery and international ordering in the coming weeks.”

Last week, the retailer took the unprecedented step of launching a new ad campaign without a single mention of its online stores.

‘Summer Like You Mean It,’ devised by Mother, invites customers to celebrate all the small things that make summer unforgettable, and showcases styles for both big plans and small moments. However, it did not mention M&S.com as the site was still down.

It is not known whether the campaign will now be altered.
