One Direction overhauls fan site

One Direction overhauls fan siteNot content with owning the biggest-selling act in the world last year, Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment is overhauling the One Direction website to boost engagement with the X-Factor boy band’s fans.
Created by agency Studio Output, the revamp taps into the release of One Direction’s fourth studio album, Four, with a content-led strategy conveying what the agency describes as “the band’s high octane energy and personality”.
It combines different typefaces and both still and animated imagery to create a responsive website with large panels of content displayed on each page.
Celebrating the wealth of content created by the five-piece and their committed fan-base, the new website  has been laid out to appeal to dedicated fans looking for the latest updates and fun posts, while still incorporating simple, clear navigation and functionality for parents visiting the site to buy tickets.
Studio Output creative director Dan Moore commented: “The last One Direction website we worked on had the most traffic of any Sony Music artist, which is quite some achievement, so we needed to create a big, bold brand website that’s designed with a smartphone user in mind first: huge hit areas, flexible scaling and an emphasis on content delivered in single scrolling pages rather than multiple taps.”
