Proximity London takes pole position at DMA Awards

dma awards 2Proximity London has muscled to the front of the DMA Awards shortlist, leading the way with 24 nominations, for eight separate campaigns, and exactly twice as many shortlisted entries than joint second place Lida and Rapp.
This year’s shortlist showcases entries from over 50 agencies, with 84 brands vying for a gold in one of the 33 categories, as well as being in line to take home the grand prix, currently held by Kamarama for the ‘Luck is no coincidence’ campaign for Unibet (pictured).
MRM Meteorite, which led the field in last year’s shortlist, is the fourth most nominated agency behind Proximity (24), Lida (12) and Rapp (12), with 8 finalists. Other agencies of note include Oliver (7), Kamarama (6), TMW Unlimited (5) and Ogilvy One (5); Engine, Krow, Scope (in-house), Psona and Havas Helia Cirencester bagged 4 nominations each.
The most shortlisted client brands at this year’s awards included The Economist, Ikea and Scope – each in the running in five categories. While vying for four awards is a large group of brands, including Bacardi, Co-op Funeralcare, PayPal, The British Army, The Open University, The RNLI and Vauxhall.
DMA Awards committee chair Nicky Bullard said: “It’s been a funny old year. The agency landscape has changed. People have moved and the work felt just as unsettled. However, the results we’ve seen this year show real strength in this industry. Multiple successes across different clients show that whatever the market conditions, strategic talent, strong client leadership and creative consistency will always win out.”
DMA managing director Rachel Aldighieri added: “The DMA Awards offer a shop window for our industry, showcasing this year’s best campaigns. The entries have been filled with strategic thinking and creative panache in order to deliver fantastic results for clients. Making even getting to a shortlist more than a little challenging in some categories. It’s also been fantastic to see the number of agencies on this year’s shortlist and the wide array of talent and skills we have in our industry.”
The winners of the DMA Awards 2017 will be revealed on Tuesday December 5 at Old Billingsgate, London. For the complete shortlist, visit the DMA Awards website>
