Adam & Eve DDB has promoted managing partner Xavier Rees to the role of group managing director, three years after he joined the agency from Targetbase Claydon Heeley.
Rees, who started his career client-side as a product manager at Boots, worked at a number of agencies, including Grey, BBH and Wunderman, before joining AIS London in 2002. He was one of the first people to be promoted to the board, only to quit within weeks to join RMG Connect (now JWT) as business director.
He then switched to Claydon Heeley, which merged with Targetbase in 2008. Rees then joined fellow Omnicom DAS agency DDB in September 2010. The agency merged with Adam & Eve two years later.
On LinkedIn, SapientNitro creative director Trefor Thomas, who worked with Rees at RMG Connect, said: “Xav is the only business director I’ve ever interviewed who brought a portfolio of his own work to the meeting. Some might say a smart move when sitting down with a creative director, or I’ve interviewed the wrong people in the past, but 10 minutes into the meeting and Xav’s true passion for creative shone through.
“His passion for creative is infectious. He makes sure his team rallies behind the work (as long as it’s on brief). And very astute when it comes to making the right business decision. The accounts we worked on together ran efficiently, on budget and Xav produced some great work.”
