Royal Mail data unit nets top gong

Royal Mail takes £24m DM hitRoyal Mail’s Address Management Unit, which manages its address databases, including the Postcode Address File (PAF), has become the first team at the firm to achieve the Investors in People Gold Award.
Fewer than 10% of firms working with Investors in People in the country have been awarded the Gold standard, which recognises best practice in areas such as learning and development, leadership skills and staff recognition.
Based across two separate sites, in Sunderland and Portsmouth, the 70-strong team began working through the accreditation framework three years ago. It achieved the Standard Award in 2013 and the Silver Award the following year.
Head of Royal Mail’s Address Management Unit Steve Rooney said: “Trying to establish a single team at two different sites based 340 miles apart can be a challenge. We began working with IiP to solidify our working practices, improve engagement and cross communication. The Gold Accreditation is testament to the dedication and hard work that the teams have put in.”
Formed in 1991, Investors in People was established by the Government to help organisations get the best from their people. Organisations can achieve Bronze, Silver or Gold status by meeting additional evidence requirements from across the Investors in People framework.
The Address Management Unit has also retained the DMA Data Seal accreditation for another year; the fourth consecutive.
