Teletext Holidays hires CRM boss

Women-sunbathing-in-St-Tr-001Teletext Holidays, the former TV-based travel firm, has appointed Virgin Holidays’ direct marketing chief to be its first head of customer data and CRM, as part of plans to boost customer retention.
Ed Grimsey joins the senior management team and will be responsible for overseeing Teletext Holidays’ entire CRM programme and customer data initiatives, with the aim of engaging with customers “in a personalised and responsive way”.
He will report directly to managing director of Teletext Holidays, Daniel Taylor.
Grimsey has more than ten years’ experience in customer centric marketing roles with Centrica, Sky and Virgin Holidays, where he was responsible for CRM and direct marketing across all of the Virgin travel brands.
Taylor said: “Putting the customers at the heart of our marketing strategy is critical for the delivery of our growth plans and Ed is exceptionally well placed to lead this for us.”
The travel firm launched nearly 20 years ago but since the demise of Teletext TV services now operates online at www.teletextholidays.co.uk and a mobile site.
It compares prices from thousands of holiday offers to multiple destinations, including packages, cruises and villa deals from the UK’s leading travel firms.
A joint partnership between Daily Mail General Trust (DMGT) and Teletext Holdings the company management team, Teletextholidays.co.uk had more than 19 million unique users in 2012.
