TNT expands final mile up North

TNT-postman-001TNT Post is expanding its final mile deliveries to Greater Manchester, following trials in London, as part of plans to create 20,000 jobs in the next five years in its end-to-end business to consumer delivery service.
Eleven delivery units, employing about 1,000 staff, will be used to serve households and businesses in the M postcode area, taking in Manchester, Trafford, Salford, Wigan and Bury, with orange and black-uniformed workers completing their deliveries on bicycles.
The new jobs will be full and part-time, ranging from delivery staff to back-office support roles.
Nick Wells, chief executive of TNT Post, said: “We are passionate about creating new job opportunities for the people of Greater Manchester and delighted to make this announcement. The postal industry is undergoing great change and I am proud that TNT Post is able to create new jobs for people who need them and also to provide career opportunities for those who want to progress in a growing company.
“We are a dynamic company with motivated people working to provide great customer service. Our commitment to training and development will not only benefit TNT Post employees, but also the wider business community as our posties progress their career with us or look for new opportunities within other businesses.”
The company first started deliveries in West London in January 2012 and has since expanded to the City of London. By May it had already delivered 16 million items of business mail.
