Tribal raids Sapient for new chiefTribal Worldwide London has poached SapientNitro client services director Lee Woodard to the role of managing partner and head of account management.
Tasked with leading the Volkswagen business at the agency, Woodard will be reporting to managing director Tom Roberts. He will also be working to further develop Tribal London’s client offering, with a focus on how clients can connect their business, advertising and technology more effectively.
Woodard has over 20 years’ experience in digital, and has worked with a wide range of leading brands including Vodafone, John Frieda, Ford Europe and Big Brother.
He first joined SapientNitro as director of creative delivery in 1999 and was responsible for launching the agency’s creative offering in the Chicago office, which he grew from a team of six to a business of 35 employees in less than two years.
Back in London he worked on launching Lloyds.com, as an online marketplace for the insurance firm. He rejoined SapientNitro as client services director in 2008 following stints at Endemol UK, Radley Yeldar and Scient. Recent work includes overseeing Michael Winterbottom’s first foray into TV commercials.
Tom Roberts said: “Lee’s track record of leading business transformative work for large, blue chip clients makes him the ideal man to lead the VW business at the agency. We’re very much looking forward to having him on-board.”
Woodard added: “Clients are accelerating their digital transformation agenda and Tribal is perfectly placed to be at the centre of this fundamental shift. I’m looking forward to working across the VW account to help bring together the best of the whole agency.”
Woodward is the second senior member of the Sapient team to switch to Tribal London this year. Gary Shannon joined the agency in February, taking up the newly created role of managing partner, working across key accounts including O2, Morrisons, Diageo and Unilever.
