Wand directors Brian Storey and Xanthos Christodoulou are to be reunited with their former co-founder Ian Winton after signing a merger deal with Golley Slater’s London agency, where Winton is currently chief executive.
The move comes just eight months after print firm Inc Direct took a 50% financial stake in Wand, with Inc managing director Noel Warner becoming managing partner of the agency.
However, that deal did not work out, freeing up the duo to merge their existing clients – including Ladbrokes, Peugeot, Childreach International and JP Morgan – into Golley Slater’s broader range of integrated services including digital, planning, PR, DM and experiential.
The new business will retain the Golley Slater name with Wand’s staff joining at the agency’s Oxford Circus base. Winton (below, right) joined the agency this time last year. Prior to setting up Wand in 2005, Storey and Christodoulou were creative directors of Brann, EHS and Joshua.
Christodoulou commented: “It’s great to be working again with Ian, reuniting the creative team which led to Wand’s success. It makes complete commercial sense too, as we love working together and the cultural fit means that clients will benefit immediately. Joining one of the best independent agencies in the country will be creatively stimulating and we will be playing a big role in growing the business over the next few years.”
Golley Slater group chief executive Chris Lovell said: “This further enhances our agency offering through combining the award winning creative work of Wand with the rich history and client success of Golley Slater. The timing is right for both agencies as we’re both growing and there are some excellent client opportunities out there currently.”
Golley Slater is an independent group, with clients including The Army, Furniture Village, TK Maxx, and Twinings, has offices in London, Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Birmingham, Cardiff, Bristol, Bangor, Cirencester and Cambridge.
