Sound as a pound: Stephen Graham signs for Maccy Ds

Actor Stephen Graham might have starred alongside Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, and Sean Bean, but now his dulcet tones will be ringing in the ears of Big Mac fans across the UK, following the die-hard scouser signing up as the new voice of the McDonald’s.

Graham succeeds Dexter Fletcher, whose most prominent role was as Soap in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels before he turned his hand to directing. His “cheeky chappie” dialect has been used in McDonald’s TV ad campaigns for over a decade.

McDonald’s claims Graham will strengthen its connection with younger audiences while also maintaining broad, cross generational appeal.

His voice features across McDonald’s UK & Ireland advertising from this week, including the McCrispy, Big Arch, Breakfast Done Properly and Master your McDonald’s App campaigns.

Leo UK is the lead creative advertising agency for McDonald’s UK, a partnership that has been in place since 1981. The agency has been responsible for crafting most of the brand’s major campaigns, including the “I’m Lovin’ It” slogan, the “Only at McDonald’s” platform.

McDonald’s UK & Ireland marketing and menu director Hannah Pain said: “Stephen brings a rare combination of cultural credibility and everyday warmth that feels perfectly aligned with where McDonald’s is today.

“As we continue to embrace a more culture‑first approach, his voice helps us connect with audiences in a way that feels honest, contemporary and familiar, building on the brilliant legacy Dexter created with us over many years.”
