Wow, now that’s what I call music. That’s right girls and boys, I had the best Glastonbury ever last weekend; not only did Tarquin lavish and ravish me, but our Luxury Indian Bhurj Tent just so happened to be right next door to Jumpin Jack Flash himself, Sir Michael Jagger esquire.
As they say, It’s Dirty Work, but someone’s got to do it. And my god he may be wrinkly but that man’s stamina is not in doubt. I caught his eye on the way back from his two hours of crowd-pleasing, prancing, strutting and pouting as I was being a bit of a Midnight Rambler.
Immediately he said, Start Me Up, as I Wanna Be Your Man. Well, who was I to argue? I was on my knees within seconds – Sticky Fingers and everything – and begging Let’s Spend the Night Together…
Believe me, It’s Only Rock n Rock but I like, like it, yes I do…and he certainly wasn’t singing (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction after I’d finished with him. Sadly though, we were soon Out of Time. Ho hum, You Can’t Always Get What You Want, Mick, and I’m rather sad to have to report It’s All Over Now.
Mind you, the DM industry witnessed its very own extraordinary performance earlier this week at the launch of the DMA Awards 2013, where the indefatigable and rather dashing Ian Bates turned on the style.
Not content with declaring the call for entries open, our man from Indicia – who it has to be said loves nothing more than a bit of Greek Orthodoxy – turned into a rather unorthodox DM Preacher, complete with the London Youth Gospel Choir.
As the group of nubile evangelists opened their lungs, Batsey blasted out: “It’s not the time to hide your light under a bushel. Reveal your talents to the world! Throw off the shackles. We’re on a mission from God.”
As one person wrote on Twitter, the event “went mental”. Well, more like a room of the DM industry’s finest was dumbstruck. Even VCCP me’s Chris Whitson was stunned into silence – and that takes some doing in itself. If you don’t believe me, check out the video here.
So, now you know, even God Almighty supports the DMA Awards…whether he’ll be there on the awards night in December is another matter – that crowd always has more Sympathy for the Devil…woo, woo…woo, woo!
