Why ‘threesome’ Foxy’s not feeling it in the Eternal City

foxy 414Un grande benvenuto da Roma, la città eterna con l’amore per la pizza, la pasta, il vino rosso e il romanticismo.

Yes, that’s right Foxy fans, for those of you without Google Translate, this week we are bringing you these musings from the Eternal City of Rome, although sadly the only thing that seems to be eternal today is the pissing rain. Ho hum.

Now, naturally, you might be wondering how the hell I got here. Well, just last weekend Roxy and I were having a gossipy night out at our local pizza restaurant in downtown Brighton when the manager “Sloppy” Giuseppe (well it is a Pizza Express) asked us whether we were free this weekend. (Apparently he was going to come to Rome with a couople of mates but they had blown him out at the last minute.)

Never ones to decline a freebie, Roxy and I jumped at the chance and here we are at his Airbnb apartment in the heart of Rome – Roxy, Foxy and Sloppy…

And apparently our timing could not be better as this is the first International Threesome Month, a new global awareness event celebrating the magic that happens when three come together. (You can’t make this shit up, but for once this is actually true.)

Of course, like most “awareness events”, International Threesome Month has actually been created by a brand which is desperate for publicity. In this case it is “the most popular AI photo editing tool” Photoroom, which is launching a three for one offer.

To coincide with the launch, it has quizzed 1,109 Brits through pollsters Centiment to rank the greatest trios ever across music, film, TV, romance, food and business – and it is claimed the results confirm what many have always suspected: that the best things in life come in threes.

In music, The Bee Gees were crowned the greatest trio of all time, capturing a third (33.4%) of the vote, with The Police close behind at 18%. In the realm of cinema, the unforgettable Titanic love triangle from of Jack, Rose and Cal, was recognised as the most memorable romantic trio, earning 21% of the vote. Narrowly missing out was the trio of Bridget Jones, Mark Darcy and Daniel Cleaver, who captured 18% of the vote.

For on-screen trios, Harry, Ron and Hermione from Harry Potter just missed out on top spot to Basil, Sybil and Manuel from Fawlty Towers, while in food, the Sunday roast combination of roast beef, potatoes, and Yorkshire puddings was unanimously voted the greatest food trio. Another British classic, fish, chips and mushy peas, secured the second spot with 15% of the vote.

In the business world, the trio of Apple’s founders – Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne – dominated as the greatest founding team, garnering 47% of the vote. The YouTube founders – Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim – followed with 22%, apparently underscoring the impact of these pioneering trios on the technology industry.

All of which might have you asking what’s was the point of all that? And, to be fair, I would be inclined to agree as I am not really into threesomes.

Good job too, because Sloppy’s drop dead gorgeous hunk of a brother, Maximus, has just arrived to bring a ray of sunshine to my day. If he’s anything like Russell Crowe in Gladiator, it could get very messy…

Ti auguro uno splendido fine settimana, as they say round here!
