Will Busty climb on Chris Ward?

gossip-three-23-300x3001Nothing has been quite as it seems this week. Now, I’m not too sure whether it’s because Tarquin Farquhar shagged my brains out but my mind has been in a spin ever since I returned to Blighty on Tuesday. I almost need another holiday to get over it.
So when I opened my email and saw the headline “Put some jerky in your mouth” I thought it was good ol’ Tarquers inviting me away for another weekend. Sadly it turned out to be a rather tedious press release about some bloke who’d been on Dragon’s Den, who was launching a Texan jerky range.
The blurb went on, “we want to launch Texas Joe’s with a bang, so we didn’t look any further than assigning Manifest to help us make a noise. These guys have a proven track record in helping to launch brands that are doing something genuinely different, and that definitely meets our brief”. Yeh, right…
Then another email headline caught my eye. “Christopher Ward achieves marketing first – Mount Christopher Ward.” It went on, “in what is believed to be a world first, Christopher Ward took up the position of lead sponsor of the Tajikistan Silk Road Expedition 2013, which set off from the north of Scotland in late June”.
“The Tajik 2013 mountaineers are determined to quite literally put the Ward name on the map in a remarkable way. This is an absolutely amazing ‘first’– we’re sure that no-one else has ever achieved this before – and reflects Ward’s passion for originality, skill and adventure.”
What? Chris Ward formerly of CMW, Personal, Partners Andrews Aldridge and now plying his trade at An Abundance has paid up cash to get a mountain named after himself? Has the world gone mad? Is that the real reason he’s been hiding his light under a bushel for the past few months to prepare for the big reveal? Is it why he split with Amanda Phillips; did she want it to be called Mount Amanda?
Nah. Nothing quite as exciting…sadly it seems Christopher Ward is also an English luxury watchmaker, too.
But Mount Chris Ward? Well, I hear he’s got a great art collection which is worth a few bob, so, yep, I probably would…And I’d definitely find out if he really has a “passion for originality, skill and adventure”…
