Sophie Taylor succeeds Tom Hampson, who left the business in February to join Asda, and brings extensive experience to the role, with a strong track record of driving brand growth, customer engagement and commercial performance.
She was first appointed in 2023 to transform B&Q’s brand and product visibility through consumer and corporate PR, social, and content channels.
During her time in the role, she built a high-performing team, modernised the content operating model, and aligned marketing with commercial and product priorities to deliver measurable growth.
Prior to that, Taylor spent over four years at Mamas & Papas, ultimately as head of brand communications where she led brand strategy and integrated marketing to support a full business turnaround.
She spearheaded PR, partnerships, and customer-led experiences to increase awareness, boost engagement, conversion, and brand relevance, contributing to significant sales growth. She has also held marketing roles at Sugarman Group, Ark Home Healthcare and British Land.
Taylor will report to Paterson, and work alongside director of data and customer Lizzie Harris.
Paterson said: “Sophie is an outstanding marketing leader with a proven ability to build brands, connect with customers and deliver commercial results.
“Over the past two years at B&Q, she has already made a significant impact across content, social and PR, helping to strengthen our brand authority and grow engagement at scale. I’m delighted she will be joining our leadership team as director of marketing, and I look forward to seeing her continue to drive the brand forward.”
Taylor added: “I’m hugely excited to step into the role of director of marketing at B&Q. This is a brand with real purpose, creativity and ambition, and I’m incredibly proud of what the team has achieved so far. I’m looking forward to building on that momentum, continuing to strengthen our connection with customers and inspiring even more people to create homes and spaces they love.”
