Caitlin Ryan quits Cheil for plum role at Facebook

caitlin ryanCheil London executive creative director Caitlin Ryan is leaving the agency after just under two years in the job to join Facebook as regional director for its Creative Shop, EMEA.
The former Proximity London ECD has been at the South Korean agency since January 2016 having worked as a consultant for nearly a year after quitting Karmarama in the wake of  senior management changes at the agency. She will start at Facebook in March next year.
At Cheil, Ryan will be succeeded by creative director and head of film Russell Schaller who takes on responsibility for the creative output and will be responsible for continuing the agency’s move into data driven marketing (DDM).
Shaller started his career at RKCR/Y&R and worked at Mother, 4Creative, and Euro RSCG before moving to Havas London. He has been at Cheil since September 2016.
Cheil UK CEO Peter Zillig said: “I want to thank Caitlin for harnessing Cheil’s technology heritage and using it to such great effect with all our work. We will miss her, but Facebook have made a smart choice and I have no doubt that she will be a huge success.”
Ryan said: “It’s been a brilliant two years at Cheil, which has capitalised on its DNA to make tech the new canvas for creativity. Moving to a tech company felt like a natural progression and I wish everyone here all the best.”
Schaller added: “The opportunity to continue the brilliant work that Caitlin has already progressed is a fantastic one and I’ll continue to ensure that film is at the heart of Cheil’s data driven content strategy.”
