Conner exits VCCP me for Ogilvy

VCCP me client services director Matt Conner has quit after nearly six and a half years to take up the role of managing partner at OgilvyOne Worldwide.
Conner has headed up the More Than account at the agency for the past five years and was instrumental in the pooling of the ad and direct accounts into the VCCP-owned business.
He is the third member of the senior management team to exit since the merger with data specialist Tree and the rebranding from Stephens Francis Whitson in April.
Creative partner Neil Francis left in the wake of the deal; while business director Peter Worster – who joined the agency when it bought Presky Maves in October 2010 – has also quit.
Worster, along with former Presky Maves colleague Simon Spyer, is launching a sister agency within the VCCP Partnership called Conduit, which will specialise in data strategy.
Conner started his career at WWAV Rapp Collins (now Rapp) on an undergraduate placement in 1996, eventually becoming a senior account manager. He then joined Rapier in April 2003, where he met VCCP me managing partner Ben Stephens, who was managing director at the time.
The duo was reunited in April 2006 – soon after SFW launched – but Conner was sent on secondment to More Than for his first six months, joining the agency full-time in the October.
It is not known which accounts he will be working on at OgilvyOne but Conner’s expertise in financial services marketing is likely to be called upon. Ogilvy’s finance clients include American Express and Zurich. Earlier this month, OgilvyOne also hired former Gyro chief Chris Hare as business partner.
