Former Kin + Carta duo open up ‘creative SEO agency’

rise_at_seven_duoTwo former colleagues who worked at Kin + Carta agencies Branded3 and Edit have joined forces to launch a “creative SEO agency”, which will offer technical SEO, digital PR, content marketing and social media services.
Stephen Kenwright, who first joined Kin + Carta – when it was called St Ives – seven years ago, has partnered with content marketer Carrie Rose to launch Rise at Seven.
Kenwright started at Branded3 as an analyst in 2012, before switching to director of search and then strategy director. Last June, he became sales and marketing director after the agency was merged with Edit.
Rose’s background is in PR and content, joining Branded3 in 2014. Two years later she was promoted to the role of digital PR strategist, before becoming a senior campaign strategist at Edit in October last year.
The start-up will be based in Sheffield and launches with a senior team of SEO and digital PR consultants and creatives in place. It has already won three accounts ahead of launch and secured a six-figure investment.
Kenwright, who is co-founder and technical director, said: “Owning the most competitive search results needs a combination of creative and technical SEO – there aren’t any agencies out there that are equally as good at both.
“The ones that were capable have mostly been acquired and integrated into networks that don’t understand or value what they do; burdened with too much process and unachievable growth targets that ultimately mean templated work and account managers working for commission, not clients.
“Our clients will have direct access to the experts in both technical and creative to push their activity further. There won’t be sales and account managers as barriers for our clients or overheads for the agency.”
Rose, who is co-founder and creative director, added: “My goal is to generate the type of results to tell your boss about and campaigns to tell your mum about. Stephen and I coming together allows us to offer a dual technical and creative offering to do exactly that.”
