Canal & River Trust, the charity responsible for protecting and bringing to life more than 2,000 miles of waterways in England & Wales, has appointed MSQ Partners as its lead communications agency to drive brand awareness and customer engagement activity.
The Gate and Stack, MSQ Partners’ two lead communications agencies, will work in partnership on the assignment, which was awarded following a competitive run through Creativebrief. There was no incumbent.
The Gate will lead on brand awareness, including creative, media planning and buying. Stack, whose chief executive Ben Stephens is well known as a countryside and wildlife enthusiast, will lead on customer engagement.
Set up in 2012, the Trust took over the guardianship of all canals, rivers, docks and reservoirs, along with museums, archives and the country’s third largest collection of protected historic buildings from British Waterways.
It works with partners and volunteers to care for canals and rivers, making sure there is a place for everyone.
MSQ Partners chief executive Peter Reid said: “We’re delighted to have the opportunity to bring the story of the Canal & River Trust to the widest possible audience. There is such rich material in the huge range of activities that the Trust performs and we relish the opportunity to communicate the benefits they bring to people’s everyday life.”
