Communisis chief strategy officer Karl Havard has been recruited by digital agency Steel London to build and lead all strategic elements of the business as well as be the agency’s public face.
Havard will take up the same role at Steel and work across prospective and existing clients, including Greggs, for which it recently launched a loyalty scheme, Sky, Debenhams, Perfect Pizza, 118, AOL and Ladbrokes.
A former sargeant in the British Army, Havard started his marketing career at Symbol & Peak Technologies in 1995, and then had spells at Foviance and Propellernet, where he was managing director, before joining Wunderman UK in January 2011. He also worked at TBG Digital. He has been chief strategy officer at Communisis since August.
Steel London chief executive Andy Hinder said: “Karl’s 15 years’ of strategic and commercial experience – specifically in digital, mobile and social – will be hugely beneficial to our clients. His breadth of knowledge across deep consumer intelligence, creative strategy, technology innovation, meaningful measurement and ROI attribution will add an extra dimension to the work we do.”
Havard added: “None of us know what’s around the corner, but ensuring we have consumer-centricity and intelligence at the heart of everything we do, we can adapt at pace to become a real strategic partner for our clients.”
