Tesco brings in London agency for social media boost

Supermarket giant Tesco is aiming to boost its social media activity with the appointment a new dedicated agency following a three-way competitive pitch.

London-based Uncovered beat off We Are Social and VaynerMedia to the business, in a process handled by consultancy Tuffon Hall.

It will now work alongside BBH London and Havas CX Helia on the Tesco advertising and marketing account and will provide “engaging, high-volume, social-first content” across a raft of platforms.

The agency was founded in 2017 by former London Union duo Chris Cookson and Catherine Orr. Uncovered’s clients include British Airways, KFC, Nike, Bentley, American Express, Tiffany & Co and Peugeot.

Tesco UK marketing director Murray Bisschop said: “We’re focused on strengthening our social media approach and we are excited to be working with Uncovered to produce new work that we hope will be engaging and relevant for our customers.”

Uncovered’s Cookson added: “Winning the Tesco social account is a defining achievement for our agency. We’ve long aspired to work with a supermarket brand, and to partner with the UK’s biggest is an incredible privilege.

“Their ambition and creativity stood out throughout the pitch process, and we’re thrilled to join forces to push the boundaries of social, create work that resonates, and drive real impact in the years ahead.”
