Wunderman appoints global creative

bjorkmanWunderman is aiming to align the agency’s burgeoning data and digital capabilities with top-level creative by appointing its first global chief creative officer.
Lincoln Bjorkman, previously Digitas North America creative boss, will report directly to Wunderman global chief executive Daniel Morel. He will develop the WPP agency’s over-arching global creative strategy and manage the creative process across the agency’s 60-country global network, comprising more than 170 offices.
According to Morel, Wunderman has tripled in size over the past eight years by embracing clients’ data strategies, as brands increasingly turn to data and digital to improve their bottom-line results.
Morel said the appointment of Bjorkman highlights the agency’s dedication to responding to market changes while maintaining creative leadership. “Tapping into a creative who is well versed in the world of television and pixel-rich content is critical to developing engrossing digital pieces,” Morel said, adding that engaging customers through digital channels now takes “rich, sophisticated, creative content that increasingly resembles TV”.
He claims Bjorkman “understands that the true value of engaging creative content is its ability to create connections with customers”.
Bjorkman will sit on the Wunderman executive board and lead the agency’s Global Creative Council. He said: “I’m looking forward to working across Wunderman on global creative initiatives that will not only raise the bar, but deliver creative impact in the marketplace.”
At Digitas, he was responsible for the agency’s North American offices including New York, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Atlanta, Detroit and one of their largest accounts, American Express. Business Insider magazine recently named him one of the 25 Most Creative People in Advertising.
Prior to Digitas, Bjorkman worked at Y&R serving first as director of concepts for the Wunderman New York office, and then later as creative director and principal of Y&R’s new Brand Buzz.
