Zamora books into Motel for premium limoncello brand

Zamora Company, the family-owned Spanish drinks group that produces and distributes premium wines and spirits globally, has appointed a new agency to develop a global campaign for its premium limoncello brand, Villa Massa.

Established in 1945 by siblings Diego, Angel, and Josefina Zamora (along with her husband Emilio Restoy), the company has selected creative agency Motel to create an integrated campaign aimed at driving growth across multiple international markets.

The initiative seeks to give Villa Massa a “fresh look” to better resonate with consumers as the limoncello category evolves.

The review was handled internally by Zamora Company, with no previous incumbent agency in place.

Motel was founded in 2020 by former McCann Worldgroup Rob Smith and former executive creative director Lee Tan, with founding client Klarna; its clients include N Brown, The Financial Times (commercial division), Greek yogurt brand Fage, PlayOjo, HCA Healthcare and Fever-Tree.

The move follows Zamora’s recent €2m investment in late 2024 to double the production capacity of its Sorrento-based plant to support global expansion, particularly into the US and Latin America.

Zamora Company owns over 15 premium brands, split roughly 60% spirits and 40% wine, including Licor 43, Martin Miller’s Gin, and Ramón Bilbao.

Zamora global brand director Priti Punjabi said: “We are thrilled to be working with Motel in this next phase for Villa Massa, the category of limoncello is changing and we have teamed up with Motel to give a fresh look at how we can grow the brand in the hearts and minds of consumers.”

Motel founder and CEO Rob Smith added: “Villa Massa is perfectly placed to capitalise on the increasing growth of the limoncello category. The opportunity to work with such a market-leading brand and its ambitious team is a brilliant way to kick off 2026. A little less so to kick off Dry January.”
