The organisation which runs the recruitment and training of talent for the construction industry has put a £2.1m contract for media planning and buying services out to tender as it seeks to push a career in the sector.
The Construction Industry Training Board says it wants to appoint an agency appointed to help support its “strategic marketing objectives”.
The CITB says a key driver for the new agency will be to inspire and enable diverse and skilled people into construction by increasing new entrants into the industry through various routes.
The funds allocated to the media buying contract include the development of media materials, securing and spend on advertisements, and managing the media buying partner.
A spokesperson said: “We endeavour to develop new materials and campaigns that showcase construction as an exciting career option.
“A significant segment of our media buying funding goes towards the promotion of our Go Construct platform that provides resources for people considering a career in construction.
“It is cheaper to conduct this work via an agency as they hold relationships with media that CITB does not.”
The move follows an overhaul of the planning system which has given all councils in England new, mandatory housing targets to pave the way to deliver 1.5 million more homes.
The new targets will mean councils must boost housebuilding in areas most in need, helping more people buy their own homes, removing the largest barriers to economic growth.
At the time the new policy was announced, Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner said: “Today marks a significant step to getting Britain building again.
“Our decisive reforms to the planning system correct the errors of the past and set us on our way to tackling the housing crisis, delivering 1.5 million homes for those who really need them.
“And something I am personally proud of, our new flexibilities for councils will boost the number of social and affordable homes, and give working families a better route to a secure home.”
