VCCP me has recruited Gavin Hilton from Rapp to succeed Chris Whitson and join the agency’s management team as planning partner.
Hilton, who has had two spells at Rapp – most recently as planning director – will work alongside managing partners Ben Stephens and Steve Mattey as well as creative partner Jamie Bell.
He will not have a stake in the business, which sold its remaining minority stake to VCCP last year and changed its name from Stephens Francis Whitson.
Hilton first joined Rapp (then WWAV Rapp Collins) in 1995, staying five years before switching to Proximity London; he rejoined in 2005.
Hilton said: “Obviously, after a total of 13 years at Rapp, leaving wasn’t a decision to be taken lightly. But this is a unique opportunity to help carve out a distinct place in the market for VCCP me and to ensure that our clients benefit from the unique diversity of talent that the VCCP Partnership can deliver.”
Whitson became the second co-founder to leave – following the departure of creative chief Neil Francis in 2012 – when he quit the VCCP Partnership agency in October last year. His is now chief strategy officer at WPP’s Team News.
VCCP me clients include More Than, Southern Railway, Credit Confidential and O2 Priority Moments.
