Havas EHS has further strengthened its top team by promoting Melanie Welsh, who has headed up planning on the agency’s Unilever account since 2012, to the role of executive planning director.
The promotion is in recognition of Welsh’s role in building the agency’s portfolio of Unilever brands, which now encompasses Dove, Surf and more recently Dove Men+Care.
She will now lead the agency’s planning team across its entire portfolio of clients, including new client wins of Viking, Cornetto and Graze.
Welsh started her career at Centaur Media in 1994, working on subscription programmes for the likes of Precision Marketing, Marketing Week and Creative Review. She then had spells at Time Out, News Corp and Media Guardian before joining agency Soup as head of strategy in 2006. She left to join Havas EHS four years later.
Welsh said: “I have had the opportunity at Havas EHS to work with incredible brands, so I look forward to continuing to produce creative and strategic work that drives tangible benefits. It’s by applying this kind of approach that Havas EHS will continue to reap the rewards of its quiet revolution through even more new business wins, agency growth and a dedication to strategic but creative work.”
Havas EHS chief executive Tash Whitmey added: “2014 has been a brilliant year for Havas EHS and Melanie has played a crucial part in this success. The agency is currently expanding its offering to help clients better capitalise on an increasingly digital world.
“We pride ourselves on our commitment to a future that is technologically innovative but we also believe that these changes can’t come at the expense of fantastic creative and planning. Melanie has proven herself to be crucial to our continued success and is a real asset to the agency.”
