Holder tribute site infiltrated again

The memorial Facebook page for IDM founder Professor Derek Holder has been infiltrated a second time by rogue advertising, this time promoting Nike Shoes, rather than paying homage to the direct marketing legend.
Someone called ‘Page Liu’ has posted on the site, along with the text “Nike Shoes are the statement of workout wear. And U. Need one.” It includes a link to a rogue shopping site.
The irony of the ad would not have been lost on Holder, however. When he was at university, the DM guru was a keen sportsman, and according to lifelong friend Bernard Keavy who spoke at Holder’s memorial service, he used to love playing squash and going running. But Holder was also known for his mischievous sense of humour, so the latest “hack” would probably have raised a wry smile too.
His Facebook page was set up soon after Holder died, in February last year, designed as a lasting tribute. It now has hundreds of followers and includes comments from many of the direct marketing industry’s luminaries as well as former pupils and colleagues.
In March this year, an ad posted by someone called Camilla Oliveira also managed to infiltrate the site to promote a range of sunglasses. It was removed soon after.
