The Man from Del Monte is set for a major makeover in the brand character’s first TV ad in 25 years with the man in the white suit and Panama hat being replaced by the Nan from Del Monte in her kitchen dishing out family favourite recipes.
The ad stars Pauline Crosby, a 74-year-old grandmother from Norfolk, who was crowned in February after a nationwide public vote.
Launching as part of Fresh Del Monte’s new collaboration with Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Zootropolis 2, arriving in UK cinemas this week, the ad features Crosby alongside her granddaughter Poppy Capper and great-granddaughter Mila, bringing three generations together on screen.
The TV spot, which features “Nan” championing the brand and sharing family recipes, is designed to highlight the importance of grandparents in preserving baking traditions.
As part of the global collaboration, Fresh Del Monte is also rolling out co-branded Zootropolis 2 tinned product labels and stickers across supermarket shelves nationwide.
Hundreds of millions of stickers are being distributed worldwide, featuring characters from the film and encouraging families to enjoy fruit with an adventurous twist.
The collaboration also features a consumer competition, giving fans the chance to win a family trip to Dubai, along with additional themed prizes. Entry information will be available on participating packs and across Fresh Del Monte’s social channels.
Fresh Del Monte managing director Martin Selley said: “The nation has fallen in love with Pauline. She represents everything we wanted this modern revival to be: warm, real and rooted in family tradition. The feedback has been incredible, and we’re already exploring what’s next for her.”
