Vonnie Alexander nets AAR job as Spong switches role

Vonnie-AlexanderKitcatt Nohr Alexander Shaw co-founder Vonnie Alexander has joined intermediary AAR to take on its CRM and customer experience brief, succeeding Tony Spong who is to head up the consultancy’s brand strategy practice.

A highly respected industry figure, Alexander started her career at WWAV Rapp Collins (now Rapp) in 1990 and then had a spell at the now defunct Carlson before joining forces with Paul Kitcatt, Marc Nohr and Jeremy Shaw to launch their eponymous agency in 2002.

The agency, which had backing from an investment group set up by industry chiefs Clive Mishon and Colin Lloyd, witnessed rapid growth over the following decade. And, having turned down approaches from both Engine Group and Australian marketing services group Photon, it was eventually sold to Publicis in 2011.

Alexander left in 2015 and in 2017 was one of eight members of Kitcatt Nohr management team to successfully sue Publicis over claims that the French agency group misled them about an existing relationship with client Procter & Gamble. The High Court awarded the founders and major shareholders £2.6m for breach of contract.

Since leaving the agency, which was rebranded in 2017, Alexander has worked as a consultant in leadership and executive coaching roles, as well as being a non-exec; she will continue with this alongside her AAR duties.

Alexander will be responsible for managing all CRM and CX pitches at AAR and take on the development of new approaches to support brands and agencies in this area.

AAR chief executive Victoria Fox said: “It’s a real coup for us to have someone with such deep experience and gravitas running this important practice. She is also a delight to work with, which helps. We look forward to lots of lively debate and a thriving partnership.”

Alexander added: “I could not be more excited to be joining this exceptional team and to be working again in this industry that I love. I have long admired AAR’s vision, ambition, and professionalism so this is a dream come true. It’s going to be fun.”
