“Coq au Vin” is a joint collaboration arranged by the two brands and is opening for the August Bank Holiday weekend at Kachette Annex. It will see fried chicken meet French wine in a pairing that “practically writes itself”.
The bar will offer tenders served with rosé, hot wings matched with red and popcorn chicken with fizz, with La Vieille Ferme bringing back its ‘Chicken Wine’ label exclusively for the event.
Coq au Vin is designed to shake things up for the chicken obsessed, pairing KFC with La Vieille Ferme in a match-up that has apparently been hiding in plain sight all along.
Famille Perrin is one of the largest vineyard owners in the Southern Rhône Valley, with over 300 hectares; it is the only major producer in the Rhône to be based in the South and represent all of the key appellations of the region.
KFC UK & Ireland fame and partnerships lead Phoebe Syms said: “We’re iconic fried chicken. They’re the iconic Chicken Wine. Coq au Vin is one of those partnerships that just makes sense – and frankly, we can’t believe it’s taken this long. This August bank holiday, it’s poulet all day!”
Famille Perrin UK managing director Andrew Bayley added: “Bringing the nation’s favourites together in a unique juxtaposition is all about celebrating the unexpected. Coq au Vin is a playful take on the principle that great wine and great food don’t have to follow the rules…a pop-up collaboration that makes customers cross the road.”
