Lidl GB promotes insider to lead its customer business

Lidl GB has promoted former graduate trainee Louise Weise from customer director to chief customer officer, in a move which sees her join the board of directors to lead its customer function.

Weise, who has been at the discount giant since 2010, will be responsible for brand and marketing, loyalty and customer insight, in-store customer experience and customer care.

Over the past 16 years, she has worked her way up the ladder from head of non-food, to CRM insights and promotional activity director, and then customer director.

Weise said: “I am thrilled and honoured to step into this role at such a pivotal stage in Lidl GB’s growth. As we continue to build momentum, my focus will be on strengthening our customer experience, deepening our brand loyalty and ensuring we deliver our More to Value proposition across every customer interaction.

“We will continue to provide high quality without compromise, by listening to our customers and focusing on what they prioritise in their lives.”

The appointment follows an impressive festive performance from the retailer, after it reported its biggest Christmas trading period to date. Sales rose 10% year-on-year and turnover topped £1.1bn in the four weeks to Christmas Eve.

Lidl GB works with a number of external agencies for its advertising and marketing accounts, including Serviceplan for creative, OMD for media, Coolr for social media, and Brands2Life for corporate communications.
