Ogilvy leads field as DMA Awards shortlist is revealed

dma 1Ogilvy UK has emerged as the agency to beat at this year’s DMA Awards, leading the field by a country mile with 23 finalists on the shortlist of 45 different agencies across 34 categories.

It is the first time in four years that Ogilvy has topped the shortlist, although, as has been proved in previous years, the agency with the highest number of nominations does not necessarily come out on top on the night. Despite regularly being among the leading finalists over the past few years, Ogilvy has not won the grand prix since 2012.

Over 300 senior marketers from agencies, brands and specialists helped to judge this year’s awards over the four days of judging that went into creating the shortlist.

In total, there are 166 entries vying for silverware, and the top ten most shortlisted agencies also includes MRM McCann and Proximity London (14 each), Rapp (10), Oliver (8), Merkle and TMW Unlimited (7 each), Code and Mullen Lowe Open (6 each) and Stretton & Stretton (5).

The most shortlisted brands at this year’s awards are Ikea UK (10), Health Education England (6), IBM (6), Miscarriage Association (6), Formula 1 (5), Marsh & Parsons (5), and The Guardian (5).

DMA Awards committee chair Matt Conner, who is also managing director at reigning grand prix winner MRM McCann, said: “Amid another year of change and uncertainty it’s a testament to the people in our industry that this hasn’t affected the quality of work we’ve been able to produce. The diversity of campaigns, brands and strategies we’ve seen this year shows why the UK continues to be a global leader in data and marketing.”

DMA managing director Rachel Aldighieri added: “Every year the DMA Awards showcases the amazing work completed by talented individuals and teams across the data and marketing industry.

“This year’s entries have really hit the mark and exemplify what a successful campaign should be – creative and strategic while delivering remarkable results. It is fantastic to see the wide array of skills and talent displayed by this year’s entries, showcased through the amazing work they produce on a daily basis.”

The winners of the DMA Awards 2019 will be revealed at the DMA Awards night at Old Billingsgate, London, on December 3. For the full shortlist, visit the DMA Awards website>
