Rapp appoints duo to senior marketing science team

rapp duoOmnicom agency Rapp UK has bolstered its marketing science team with the newly created roles of senior vice-president of analytics and senior vice-president of data science as part of plans to give clients access to “hands-on, data-literate specialists”.

The move sees George Cushen (pictured, right) join the agency as SVP of data science, while James Heimers (pictured, left) has been promoted from within to the role of SVP of analytics.

Both will report to chief marketing sciences officer UK Andy Rowe, and will work to strengthen key client relationships, deliver the innovative initiatives for the agency and create new products to scale through their departments.

In their new roles, Cushen and Heimers will work closely as department heads to solidify Rapp’s existing offering, as well as driving growth for their teams and using the latest disruptive technology and techniques in marketing sciences to evolve the agency’s data-driven solutions for its clients.

Cushen, who holds a PhD in Machine Learning and Computer Vision, has joined Rapp from Amyris, where he was head of data and science; Cushen also previously held roles at Bark.com, the Very Group and Farfetch,

He brings hands-on and extensive experience in artificial intelligence to support and oversee the rapidly growing data science department, applying data-driven precision marketing for more efficient marketing spend, more explainable attribution and stronger lifetime value for Rapp clients’ customers.

Meanwhile, Heimers has been promoted from VP of analytics to SVP, having played a pivotal role in the success of the analytics department by leading many initiatives across measurement, personalisation at scale and data driven creativity.

In this new role, he will oversee the department of more than 65 people, and will lead the team, bridging the gap between creativity, data and tech; he has previously worked at MRM and Virgin Atlantic.

Andy Rowe said: “With the exponential rise of disruptive technology like AI, we need the highest calibre of people leading our teams. Having hands-on, data-literate specialists like George and James to strengthen our existing activity and support our clients going forward will ensure we continue to lead the field.

“Their commitment to staying across all new developments of their respective fields, combined with their empathetic leadership skills, makes them the perfect candidates to guide their teams – and our clients – through the exciting times ahead in data, science and analytics.”
