BCA, which claims to be the UK and Europe’s largest used vehicle marketplace, has appointed former Shop Direct group customer director Dene Jones as chief marketing and data officer to implement a major digital transformation programme.
The company, previously known as British Car Auctions, handles over 3.5 million vehicles a year, working with car makers, fleet operators and dealers to provide the backbone of the UK’s automotive supply chain.
Jones has over 20 years’ experience, specialising in digitally transforming businesses through highly data-driven analytical approaches.
His board experience spans strategy, sales, marketing, product development, operations, payments, intelligence, corporate finance, M&A, across a spectrum of industries internationally including; academia, consumer packaged goods, consulting, digital gaming, fin-tech and retail.
As well as director-level roles at Bwin.party digital entertainment plc and WPP-owned TNS Global, from 2013 to 2016, he was group customer director at Shop Direct, implementing the digital strategy with chief executive Alex Baldock.
In addition, Dene has held a number of board advisory roles for private equity firms focused on digital transformation.
