UK housing and homelessness charity Shelter has appointed goDonate as its online donations partner following a competitive tender process, which it is understood also included previous incumbent platform iRaiser and US-based platforms such as Fundraise Up.
The appointment will see goDonate work with the charity to drive digital engagement and income in support of Shelter’s mission: helping in the fight for home and delivering a new generation of social homes.
goDonate will support the development of Shelter’s online donations journey across one-off and regular giving, with a focus on creating a smooth, accessible and mobile-optimised experience for donors.
The charity selected goDonate for its digital fundraising expertise and experience assisting UK charities with flexible, supporter-centred donation journeys.
Features set to be implemented by goDonate include a greater range of payment options, including digital wallets such as Apple Pay and PayPal for regular giving; a donor portal to give supporters a simpler way to manage their regular donations; and enhancements to post-donation journeys, designed to help Shelter deepen supporter engagement and encourage more regular giving.
Shelter assistant director of individual giving Sophia Smith said: “Following a competitive tender process, we selected goDonate for their digital fundraising expertise. Our aim is to provide Shelter’s donors and potential donors with a more engaging digital experience, supporting our overall mission: the fight for home and delivery of a new generation of social homes.
“We look forward to working together with goDonate to develop our online donation experience for supporters.”
goDonate founder and CEO Vicky Reeves added: “We’re delighted to be working with Shelter and can’t wait to get started, helping the charity to hone its online donation experience to boost fundraising through digital channels.
“Our extensive data analysis shows online donations have been consistently rising in both volume and value for a number of years. We look forward to collaborating to make the most of opportunities to increase online income so that Shelter can continue its vital work.”
Last month, the charity launched a new campaign (pictured) to highlight the legacy and influence of social housing. It showcases how many of Britain’s top stars, including Adele, Paul McCartney, Dave, Jacqueline Wilson, Liam and Noel Gallagher, Chloe Kelly, Sir Geoff Hurst and more, have been shaped by growing up in local authority accommodation.
Created by Shelter’s in-house team, with media planning and buying handled by Beyond, the campaign spotlights how homelessness in England has reached record levels, with many more people in urgent need of a genuinely affordable social home.
