Cano-Lopez gets Data Agency top job

Communisis Data Intelligence chief Jon Cano-Lopez has quit the company to join The Data Agency – formerly The REaD Group – as chief executive.
The role was previously held by founder Mark Roy, who is now chairman and Cano-Lopez will work side-by-side with Roy to drive the business forward.
The senior team of managing director of solutions Rupert Tomalin, solutions director Dean Standing, managing director of data Dee Toomey, and group operations director Simon Wright will now report into Cano-Lopez.
Cano-Lopez founded Altwood Systems in 1992 before selling it to Claritas, which was acquired by Acxiom in 2004. He then became European services group leader but left to join Ai Data Intelligence in 2007 as managing director.
A year later Ai was sold to Communisis and Cano-Lopez has been managing director of the data division ever since.

I have long admired The Data Agency’s approach and capability and I am looking forward to being able to build on the solid foundations already in place.”
The company was founded as The REaD Group in 1991 in Sevenoaks, Kent, initially specialising in business-to-consumer and business-to-business data suppression products, the Gone Away Suppression (GAS) File and The Bereavement Register. Over the following two decades it witnessed exponential growth, adding a string of group companies.
However, in 2012 it brought them all – including REaD UK, Metamorphix, Scientia Data, TRG Strata, Funnel and Cloud 9 – under one roof, rebranding as The Data Agency. The holding company continues to be called REaD Group plc.
