House 337 chief Hurrell nets top Billion Dollar Boy role

Global digital agency Billion Dollar Boy has hired its first UK managing director, appointing House 337 chief client officer Charlie Hurrell to the role to lead the next phase of its growth.

The move follows a year of strong performance for Billion Dollar Boy UK, which reported a  29% annual increase in gross profit growth.

The agency says the new role is designed to strengthen its leadership and underline its commitment to deepening client partnerships with a social-first and effectiveness-led approach, and nurturing its 110-strong UK team.

Hurrell brings extensive agency experience, spanning broadcast advertising to digital and social content, with leadership roles at House 337 (formerly Engine), Pablo, Dentsu and MullenLowe.

She has been responsible for client partnerships for brands including Unilever, Sony, McCain, HM Government, American Express, Santander, Honda, Marie Curie, Sky, and M&S.

At House 337, Hurrell supported client growth and helped the agency achieve recognition as a Fast Company Top 10 Most Innovative Agency. She also played a central role in defining the positioning and objectives of the newly rebranded business.

Hurrell said: “My journey through the creative and advertising industry has always been punctuated by conscious decisions to seek out positive growth opportunities, disruption and new creative thinking. Because while the principles of impactful marketing arguably do not change, the practices do.

“The creator economy is at the forefront of that change in our industry. It’s no longer a side note in marketing but increasingly a core driver of growth for brands that understand the value of authentic connection.

“Joining Billion Dollar Boy at this pivotal moment, when creativity and data, culture and commerce are converging, feels incredibly exciting. I look forward to working with our brand partners to help them navigate this rapidly evolving space with honesty, expertise and a commitment to effectiveness; and to working with the entire team to further nurture the creativity, passion and innovation that is already so present at BDB and which has such a demonstrable impact for our clients.”

Billion Dollar Boy global chief executive and co-founder Ed East added: “Charlie’s appointment marks an important step in BDB’s next phase of growth. She brings the strategic depth of a big-brand marketer and the creative instinct to turn ideas into measurable impact. She leads with empathy and energy, qualities that reflect how we want to lead as an agency.

“Charlie’s arrival strengthens our commitment to building the most effective social-first agency in the world. With her leadership, we will continue deepening relationships with ambitious brands and pushing the boundaries of what creator-first marketing can achieve.”
