Jaywing has strengthened its senior digital team with the appointment of Jamie Riddell as director of social, in a move which sees him return to the company after a four-year break.
Riddell started working in digital marketing back in 1999, when he co-founded specialist search and digital media planning and buying agency Cheeze. The agency was sold to Digital Marketing Group (now Jaywing) in 2007.
Since then Riddell he has founded social media consultancy Digital Tomorrow Today and created the social media reconnaissance tool Birdsong.
He also played a notable role as part of the Advisory Board helping the National Media Museum launch ‘Life Online’, Europe’s first museum space dedicated to the Internet, and is also a regular industry commentator.
At Jaywing, Riddell will be responsible for strategic planning, targeted advertising and creating social content across the agency’s portfolio of clients.
He said: “’Social’ is no longer trapped in a marketing silo, rather it’s a thread that impacts every business. Social at Jaywing is about understanding that thread and harnessing it for every discipline, from customer segmentation to social outreach, media buying and SEO. I can’t wait to see what remarkable things our collaboration can spark.”
Jaywing chief executive Martin Boddy added: “His exceptional industry experience, enthusiasm and flair will help drive even further outstanding work for our clients across social media. Jamie’s CV speaks for itself, and we’re excited to see how he will contribute to our great culture of innovation.”
