Partners recruits head of strategy

Partners Andrews Aldridge boss Martin Nieri is continuing to bolster his senior management team with the appointment of Isobar’s head of strategy Andrew Smith as its first chief strategy officer.
Smith will report to Nieri, Partners’ chief executive, and will start next month. He replaces planning partner Richard Dunn who quit to join to Wunderman in April of this year.
Smith started his career at Team LGM in 1996, staying five years before switching to Finex Communications. In July 2002 he joined The Gate as head of direct marketing, responsible for establishing the ad agency’s DM division and for integrating traditional and digital disciplines for its client base.
In October 2006 he switched to Publicis Dialog (now Publicis Chemistry) and headed up the planning department. While there he worked on clients including Egg, Visa, Renault and RBS.
He joined Isobar in 2011 as the head of strategy and worked on brands including NatWest, Nokia and Toyota.
Nieri said: “We have been upweighting the strategy department. We didn’t just want someone who had been there but someone who is going to be the next big thing and can take the agency with them.”
Smith is the latest in a string of senior appointments at Partners, following the hirings of operations director Natalie Winford, managing partner Polly Jones, and strategy director Erminia Blackden.
