Motability Operations, the company responsible for the delivery of the Motability Scheme which enables those with disabilities to use their benefits to fund a new car, scooter or powered wheelchair, has handed its creative and media accounts to VCCP.
The scheme is a partnership between the charitable sector, the UK government, leading banks, and the motor and insurance industries.
VCCP and VCCP Media will now work with Motability across brand strategy, media and creative following a competitive pitch led by the AAR.
Serving over 700,000 people with disabilities or illnesses in the UK, the Motability Scheme aims to ensure that everyone in need has access to vehicles. Since 1978, over three million vehicles have been provided to help disabled people with their mobility needs.
The win follows on from VCCP Group’s design agency SomeOne winning the branding business back in September.
Motability Operations’ chief marketing officer is Lisa Thomas, the former agency boss who also spent nearly five years as global chief brand officer at Virgin. She joined the organisation in October 2021.
Thomas said: “We were very pleased with VCCP’s strategic approach to our brand, focusing around ‘The service that keeps you moving’. We are excited to be starting work with VCCP across brand strategy, media and creative communications, and seeing our first work go live.”
The agencies will also assist the organisation as it speech on how Motability Operations transitions its vehicles electric-only models.
VCCP Media James Shoreland added: “VCCP is the integrated agency. That’s why we are delighted to have won Motability Operations across creative and media. We’re proud to be working with a brand that advocates for people with disabilities and delivers independence. We look forward to demonstrating the power of creativity in media.”
VCCP managing director Roly Darby concluded: “A great opportunity to support a fantastic team with an important cause. Creating work and representation that society desperately needs, whilst making a real impact on people’s lives.”
