Axa brings in Publicis Sapient to scale global AI strategy

Axa has expanded its relationship with Publicis Groupe by entering a strategic partnership with Publicis Sapient to accelerate the next phase of its tech transformation to scale AI agents safely, securely and responsibly at speed across its operations.

Axa’s Global AI Hub, which was first launched in July, is designed to reduce time-to-market and costs while enabling separate operations to focus on creating business value rather than independently developing common AI infrastructure. It is already in use across five Axa entities.

The Hub provides a secure foundation to implement, govern and operate AI capabilities, enabling AI solutions to move efficiently from concept to production, supporting technology independence, and embedding governance, security, compliance and human oversight throughout the AI lifecycle.

It also enhances the ability to allocate and orchestrate specific capabilities and LLMs across use cases in a strategic and cost-effective manner.

Axa divisions in the UK, Germany, France, Switzerland, and commercial insurance and reinsurance solutions arm AXA XL are developing use cases spanning areas such as motor claims automation, customer email processing and enterprise knowledge management.

As business AI capabilities continue to expand, Axa intends to strengthen its AI-driven features and promote responsible AI practices, while ensuring human oversight on all business-critical decision-making.

Axa group operations CEO Matthieu Caillat, who also serves as group chief technology and AI officer, said: “Artificial intelligence represents a unique opportunity to enhance our innovation capabilities, support our employees and better serve our customers.

“As we continue to scale AI across the group, our priority is to combine safe and efficient artificial intelligence, strong governance and practical business applications that create lasting value.

“Publicis Sapient brings together specialist AI expertise, enterprise AI solutions and global experience that will help us accelerate AI adoption consistently across our organisation, while maintaining the governance and flexibility required in a highly regulated business.”

Publicis Sapient head of financial services EMEA and APAC David Murphy added: “Enterprise AI delivers the greatest value when it combines deep industry expertise with strong engineering foundations.

“We are excited to partner with AXA to establish the enterprise AI capabilities, engineering approaches and the necessary governance to accelerate AI adoption securely and consistently across the group in support of AXA’s long-term AI ambitions.”

Publicis Groupe has handled global and UK advertising for Axa since 2019, managing integrated creative, strategy, and media buying. The recent “Future You Will Thank You” campaign (pictured) was devised by Publicis-owned Fallon UK.
